How it works
1) Visit your suburb
Explore a new suburb, it could be the neighbouring one you haven’t quite managed to get round to yet or it could be a train ride away - that’s the adventure of it!

2) Paint the suburb on your map
Use your favourite colours to paint your map. You can use acrylic or watercolour paints here. If it’s easier, you can also colour it with coloured pens or pencils
3) Appreciate your new artwork and memories
Hang your artwork in your favourite place so you can see it and remember all the fun you’ve had all over the city
A Splash of Who We Are
Painting by Suburbs was founded by Annie, who is a doctor working in Melbourne. It started with a date night in an unfamiliar Melbourne suburb — and the realisation that exploring your own city can feel just like a holiday.
For the next birthday present, she was looking to buy a scratch map of the Melbourne suburbs. It didn’t exist, that’s how Painting By Suburbs was born.
Melbourne maps, hand-drawn and ready to paint in as you explore. Every suburb you colour is one you've claimed. Every blank one is somewhere still to go.
